David Woodward Goodwin, 76, of Beaverton, passed away on March 4, 2014 after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born May 5, 1937 in White Plains, NY to Harold and Ladorn Goodwin. He received a BS in Physical Education from Springfield College in 1959. A gifted athlete, he competed in gymnastics and skiing. Also in 1959 he proudly served in the Army as part of the Honor Guard of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington, VA. He married Kate Murray and had two children, son Christopher and daughter Kelly. He opened a men’s store, the London Squire in Roswell,NM. He divorced and was married to Edna Webb, on November 13, 1971 and adopted her two daughters, Mary and Heather. They were married almost 42 years until her death in September 2014. He served as Physical Director of the YMCA of Spokane, WA and later returned to retail after moving to Beaverton and was a longtime employee of JC Penney’s.
